HARTS team participated in the REXUS/BEXUS student training week at DLR in Germany

Our team recently participated in the REXUS/BEXUS student training week at DLR (German Aerospace Center) in Oberpfaffenhofen, gaining insights into the REXUS mission and receiving expert feedback on our experiment design from DLR, ESA, SNSA and MORABA.

Main part of this event was presentation of our SED (Student Experiment Documentation) to a panel of experts. Their recommendations provided us with guidance for the next steps in our experiment’s development.
Throughout the week, we attended a variety of technical lectures, covering:

– The extreme conditions our experiment will face during the flight on a
sounding rocket
– The different phases of a rocket flight and mission execution
– Project management and best practices for technical documentation
– The different phases of a rocket flight and mission execution
– The structure and objectives of the German and Swedish space programs
– Engineering disciplines, including mechanical, software, electrical and
thermal design

These lectures expanded our understanding of the mission for both the technical and organizational aspects of our project.
In addition to lectures, we had the chance to visit key space facilities, including:
– MORABA (Mobile Rocket Base)
– DLR Robotics Centre
– DLR GSOC (German Space Operations Center)

This week at REXUS/BEXUS student training week was an incredible learning experience, giving us new information, valuable connections, and fresh motivation. We return from DLR feeling more prepared and excited for the next steps in our project.
